Pick-up
FIRST PICKUP IS WEDNESDAY APRIL 23RD. IF YOU ARE A CONFIRMED MEMBER (MEANING YOU RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION EMAIL FROM US) BUT YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE ABOUT YOUR PICKUP SITE (or you received an email with the wrong pickup information), PLEASE CALL SARA'S CELL PHONE 314.852.5743. If you made a payment after Tuesday the 22nd, your first pickup will be next Wednesday April 30th.
Your chosen pickup site will be your permanent pick up site. You won't be able to switch back and forth between sites (except in special circumstances).
Our Fair Shares distribution site will be at 44 and Kingshighway--we'd like to get as many people as possible to pick up from us at that site--it will give members the most flexibility in terms of time and ability to trade and swap food.
Our U City site will be off Westgate behind Blueberry Hill in the Loop.
Our Kirkwood site will be in the Toys R U/World Market parking lot, just south of 44 on the east side of Lindbergh. We'll set up in front of the closed office supply store.
Our St. Charles site will be on Jackson off 5th Street.
NOTE: OUR DOWNTOWN DISTRIBUTION SITE IS BEING OMITTED and will move to our Fair Shares Distribution site. Members please check the forum to find others who will take turns making the pickup with you.
We will post notices and create a waiting list here on the site as soon as we reach our membership limit, so YES, WE STILL HAVE SPACE AVAILABLE!
Delivery day will be Wednesday.
Delivery time will be in the late afternoon, (e.g. 4-6 or 5-7) and will allow for a couple of hours for everyone to pick up their shares and turn in last week's returnables. Exact time range will depend on the site and member preferences, but will also take into account our ability to get there from our distribution site.
Our season will begin on April 23rd* and run 47 weeks, ending in early March. We understand that although we are providing a convenience, it won't be convenient for everyone. Therefore we hope members will encourage neighbors and friends to join, so that you can rely on each other to pick up a share for you in the event you are unable to make it. We like the idea of "Community Supported" and hope all our members will take that to heart. Taking turns with pickups in your neighborhood saves everyone time and gas.
If a member is unable to pick up a share, we must be notified by email by the night before, or by phone (person to person, not just a message) before we leave the pickup site. The share will be available for pick up later at a site that may not be so convenient for the member. If we aren't notified before we leave the pickup site, the share will be donated to a food bank along with the other donation shares for the week. We hope that you will all get to know each other well enough to help one another out when needed.
A reusable produce box or canvas bag will be provided for your food items. Members are expected to return the bags, boxes, egg cartons and any other reusable packaging each week, or a deposit will be charged. If you don't return your box, we'll sell you a paper bag to transfer your share to--you will not be allowed to have more than one box at a time so that we'll always have something to pack your share in the following week.
